A huge city, Istanbul has more shops than I've ever seen in my life, most of which are clustered by theme. In addition to the hardware area, which gets its own gallery, I was in areas that sold musical instruments, clothing, and commercial cooking appliances.

Built by Emperor Justinian in 537 as a church, it was converted to a mosque in the 15th century, and has been used as a museum since 1934. Although restoration continues, its a bit ragged in parts.

The Sultan had very nice digs, although photography is not allowed in some of the more interesting parts. Consequently, most of these pictures are taken from inside the Harem area.

The museum in Istanbul has some beautiful items, very well presented. I highly recommend this museum.

I spent a very pleasant morning visiting a bunch of small shops selling a huge variety of hardware, marine supplies, and speciality tools. It was the longest time period spent in Turkey without someone offering to sell me a rug.
